This was the week of challenges and finding strength.
While I was in ICU way back in February (seems like a year ago!) I was reading that the Oprah Winfrey Show was coming to town for the first time. What sealed the deal for me was Deepak Chopra and the Bishop T.D. Jakes were coming as well.
I will need their message….I thought to myself. I bought a ticket.
I told Nic that I was doing this for him. He looked at me like I had two heads. No Nic seriously, mommy needs help!
What I learned, I already knew, but after weeks of Nic being sick, so sick…I was losing my perky. Losing my perky is never a good thing.
Gratitude….and Purpose. The dream team where awesome. Got my perky back 🙂
The Week started with Oprah, and by Tuesday Mr. Heaslip was on TV, looking dapper as ever, telling everyone about the Fundraiser that was happening on Thursday. The fundraising team working so hard to get the donations and make sure the fundraiser was ready to go. More of the many superstars I was in the company of this week.
I have always looked for the good in people my whole life. My goal was for my boys Nicolas and Mitchell to do the same. I always said we could smile knowing that everyone has goodness inside of them. No matter what is happening in our life, there is a message …a lesson.
After losing their Father in December of 2010 and the year of getting them through this life changing event, we are now faced with another life altering event with Nicolas’ accident. Could make you all wonder if we have lost our minds with the smiles we keep firmly on our face?
Reluctantly I left Nicolas to make it on time to Gravenhurst for the Fundraiser.. He was laying on the Physio Table, big eyes smiling at me, battling another infection…being a trouper as always. Telling me to say “Thank you to all the people helping us” I wish Nic could have come. The fundraiser would have touched him.
After last Thursdays Fundraising Event and the outpouring of concern since the accident, we know for sure that looking for good in people is easy in our life. That life is just good no matter how it is packaged.
Thankyou Friends, Family, Muskoka for loving us, supporting us, caring for us when we need it the most. You keep the smiles on our face.
This will never be forgotten.
Warmly,
Mitchell, Tammy and Nic
